DISHONEST MOVING COMPANY DAMAGED MY FURNITURE!
bought the Yelp deal because I thought I was getting a bargain, but as they say, you get what you pay for. Even though nearly all the reviews on Yelp are 5 star, a majority of them look suspicious because they are members who've only posted 1 review. Anyhow, I used ABC Moving Center (who outsourced the moving to All Out Moving, they said it's under same management) and everything seemed really great at first. Alice, the customer service rep did thorough explaning of the services and rates. Perfect. When the movers got to my place, they showed me the contract and rushed me into signing everything, saying that it wasn't important to read. Thank goodness I practice better due diligence and focused on the insurance part where they say they pay 60 cents per pound of damaged furniture. Great. When the movers finished moving, 4 pieces of VERY EXPENSIVE furniture had been damaged (estimated damage is $1,000). They were rushing the move and were very careless, even though they had more than enough time to complete the move (we had 3 hours with them since that is the minimum and they were done in 2 hours 30 minutes.) I contacted Alice at the 800 # that is listed on Yelp and she is very nice on the phone, and said to email her photos of the damage and as much info as possible so that she can talk to her supervisor, "Robert D.". Well, 10 days had passed and I had not heard from Robert of Alice. I followed up by phone and email several times (12 to be exact) without a response. The next email I told them I would give a bad Yelp review and also report them to the US Dept. of Transportation, and what do you know, "Robert D." (funny how they don't even tell you their last name, what are they hiding?) emails me estimating the weight of each item (which was grossly underestimated) and if I'd be ok with accepting a small refund (he said he was sick and that's why it took so long to get back to me). I was shocked and emailed back. But I haven't heard back, and will probably not. Everytime I talk to Alice, she says "they're working on it" and gives the "we're understaffed" excuse, and it's getting pretty old and quite frankly it's not my problem. My bf called them to see if we can visit them in person, but their office is in a really bad part of town and we'd rather not risk our lives. The move cost $200 but really it cost us much more because of damaged furniture, time wasted contacting them to file a claim, and some serious stress issues. BF just got off the phone with "Robert D." after bugging Alice that we demand to speak with him. Robert D, the supervisor just tried to debate us on the weight of our furniture so we told him to come weigh it himself. He said he can't weigh it but he can eyeball it....uh yeah ok whatver. Example, he said that my side by side door frigidaire 26 inch fridge weighs 150 lbs when it weighs 300 lbs! Do we have any fridge experts here? He said he'll cut a check after he estimates the pounds of damage. Shady, shady, operation and the only reason they even got back to us is because we bugged them EVERY OTHER DAY. Stay far, far away from this company.
