Review 3/8/2008
These guys charged $135 to come look at our exercise bike. They took it apart to inspect it. They determined that some parts needed replacement. Since they didn't have the parts on hand, they put the bike together and returned to their shop. A couple of days later, they called and said that the manufacturer no stopped making the bike a couple of years ago. Even though, we must have bought the bike around the same time that they discontinued the model, they don't have any spare parts and would not honor the parts warranty. The Treadmill guys just gave us a phone number (which was incorrect) and told us to deal with the parts guy. After we hunted down some possible suppliers for parts (on our own), we decided that we would take the bike apart to bring the defective parts to the supplier for comparison. Even though I thought that this should have been included for the $135 that we paid AK Treadmill, I figured that since they had already disassembled it, it wouldn't be worth the hassle to get them to do it. That's when I found out that their technician hammered the cotter pin on the pedal back into place. It's wedged in so tight that I'm going to have to take it into a professional bicycle shop for them to remove it. The bike was not useable, so why should he re-install the parts in a permanent fashion. When I called the shop, they said their guy is supposed to do that. If that's the case, then why were all the other nuts on finger tight? And he didn't even install all the teflon washers. He put them in bags to keep them safe. It's obvious that their technician wasn't thinking about what he would need to do for the next trip which would have cost me $80/hour, I believe, to install the parts that he was going to order. Even after, telling them that their guy made it nearly impossible to remove the pins, they had the nerve to ask me if I wanted them to keep my paperwork open. As if they were going to actually finish the job... Remember, they told me that they couldn't do anything more and gave me an incorrect phone number to find my own parts. In my opinion, these are less than useless people.
