I used Gil’s Electric Services in October, 2009. I was pleased with the outcome of my recessed lighting installation. However, in Feb 2010 I called the office requesting that someone come and recheck the wiring of their work because when I would hit one light switch it would cause another light to turn on in another room. As well, the hallway light switch would cause two of the fire alarms installed by the company beep unexpectedly.
The company sent out 2 men to check on the work. One of the workers appeared to be the lead foreman and took control of the situation. I explained the issues that I am experiencing and he stated that it was caused by the motion sensor I had installed in one bathroom. First of all, the bathroom light switch is not a motion sensor light! I told him that the light in one bathroom is triggered when I am in the other bathroom, which is on the other side of the house. So how could a motion sensor come on if no one is in proximity to trigger it? I explained to him that the fan switch, which the company installed, was triggering the light to come on in the other bathroom. The foreman then stated that he could switch the sensor light to a regular light but that it would cost! This is the second time that this same foreman came out to the house to check on one issue and found another in order to charge for more work.
This foreman also was very rude and unprofessional. He kept insisting that the light switches were all messed up because of the old wiring in the house and that the electricity was running into each other. This was the excuse he used to explain why the fire alarms were beeping unintentionally. I found all these explanations to be excuses for a poor job. I had to demand that the other worker at least go up in the attic to check the work. The foreman sent the guy up into the attic, but he rushed him and said “let’s go”. The workers were at the house less than 10 minutes. I heard the foreman speaking on the phone with someone explaining the situation because every other word was “motion sensor light”, however I could not understand the whole conversation because the foreman was speaking another dialect in Hebrew, which I found to be very disrespectful and impolite.
I tried to contact the company and explain my experience. The operator stated that he would contact the owner, but I have not heard from the owner. I contacted the company on Monday morning and spoke with one on the secretaries and she stated that she heard about the situation from Gil, the owner. It appeared that they had already made up their minds about the issue and did not want to hear my side of the argument. The lady was very rude and cut me off as I was trying to explain the situation. Tiffany stated that she could not help me and already spoke with the owner. This company is very pushy into trying to sell their products and service. As well, they fail to hold up to their contractual agreements. Had I known that they were rated “C” by the Better Business Bureau I would have looked further into using a different company.
