Sad to say, but as you read you'll quickly and cleary see that this is a FRAUD and SCAM alert on a smoke and mirror company that doesn't even exist. Here is the scenario:
Company advertised on Craigslist for help, ie; becoming an Inventory Service Provider. The listing I am refering to was posted in the latter part of November '09. While I live in the Columbia, SC area, I had also seen their listing in other markets, but all such listings are no longer valid and seem to have been taken down.
I replied by email stating I was leary of much of what transpires on Craigslist, so I asked them a few basic questions. The gentleman called me back from the number provided on their website, www.hicaa.com Their business (which I doubt there even IS such!), can be found through SEVERAL sites actually. Their phone is 561-767-2061. The person identified hiimself as Jim (an alias I'm now wondering?).
The process is this...complete a short application on their site to become an Inventory Service Provider, and accompany the certification paperwork with a $75 fee to be mailed to them. Strangely enough too, the terms to partner them have changed several times since I initially logged on to their site! Either way...
You'll take a link on their page which has the certification provider form, and states, "All materials necessary for Certification purposes will be sent to you 24 hours after receipt of this form." Their contact information is plainly on the form, which is also on the website; cs@backpageandmore.com 561-767-2061.
NUMEROUS red flags surrounding the whole scenario, but suffice it to say, it has been nearly ONE MONTH and NO contact from them. NEVER will anyone answer their phone...NEVER has an email from me been replied to, and NEVER has a phone call been returned from any of the messages I've sent them.
That being said, there seems to be NO such business of any sort. Their website is still up and running of the time of this review (December 7, 2009).
It doesn't take much to add all this up, but these folks are running a bonified SCAM...that's another word for FRAUD!
Dept of Consumer Affairs has been notified, along with the BBB. Both agencies are not in a position to take any action, but it's all for documentation purposes on my end. I have saved emails, and my phone record will reflect the fact that NUMEROUS attempts to reach them have been unsucessful.
I am also in the process with my local police department in filing a report. They in turn will be working with the Lake Worth Police Dept as far as investigating.
Be aware, there are TWO addresses for these people, the one here on the BBB site in Boynton Beach, and a second at 626 N Federal Hwy in Lake Worth, Fl.
This is not just a case of buyer beware, but also investor beware.
There is nothing positive to say about the company...there IS no company.
