I would not do business with this company if I were you. The Rent-A-Wheel facility, located at 8503 Whittier Boulevard, Pico Rivera, California, engages in fraudulent, deceptive, misleading business practices. The company's business practices edge of thievery. I was not aware of the company's substandard rating by the Better Business Bureau. It has a "F" rating for obvious reason. I'm surprised the Secretary of State or some other formal government agency has not launched an internal investigation into this company. Here is my story:
I needed two front Falken brand tires on my pickup truck. I went on the internet and located the nearest authorized dealer. On January 21, 2010, I walked into the shop and they did not have my tires in stock. They acknowledged they were an authorized dealer and that they could order the wheels, but it would take a few days to have them delivered. The tires were $150 each. However, Rent A Wheel required a $50 deposit. I gave them the money and waited for them to call me.
Two weeks later, I returned to the shop to have the wheels mounted. I arrived at 9:15 a.m. and was the second customer in line. I was seated in a waiting area adjacent to the working area and waited for 2 1/2 hours. I went to pay for my tires and the store manager said the cost was $1,000. When I inquired why so much, they said they mounted 4 tires. After I told them I only ordered two tires, we walked over to the truck and I saw they had mounted "Cooper" brand tires. Moreover, they had dented my truck. I was willing to buy all four tires so as long as they were Falken brand and at the quoted price ($150 per tire). They declined. I offered to walk away with the dent on my truck if they merely returned my deposit. They refused. The shop owner was suppose to call me back, but hasn't. I don't expect them to. After all, that's probably how he got a "F" rating at Better Business Bureau. A single star rating is too high for this company.
