I was extremely hopeful for this StairMaster as the final addition to our home gym in order to officially cancel our gym membership. The size is compact for a StairMaster, and lower than the ones in the gym, so you don’t need as much height clearance as they would require. After reading reviews, I was a little skeptical as this product came with lots of complaints on other sites that it broke down right away, made lots of noise all of a sudden, but the sales rep convinced me that their warranty is great and the service was excellent. When I first got it, the part I hated most is that if you BARELY touch the handles, the rate slows down significantly. Apparently, it does say it does that in the manual, but I was astonished at just how sensitive it is. Even if I put my iPad on the ledge, it will mess with the speed and it takes a long time to compensate. Also, sometimes it just gets stack at a low speed and you can’t get it to go faster. These were all frustrations that I’ve never experienced with gym cardio StairMasters. It also states calories burned are way less than what you see on the ones at the gym. I’m one that uses a StairMaster religiously, and the average calories burned on this is much different. I’m not sure if this StairMaster is inaccurate or if the commercial ones are. I’m the only one who uses this StairMaster in our home, and only months after receiving it is making a horrendous clicking noise with every step and breaking down and feels scary to even be on. Even when you stay on and try to push through, it won’t function and move steps normally. I have reached out for a service request, sent in a description, video, serial number, etc. I have been waiting weeks with no response from Core and absolutely no resolution. I’m pregnant, so this was something I was relying on as my low impact workout and very frustrated that I’m unable to use it. The TBE customer service representative has been very responsive and kind, but he has not been able to get any resolution either, so it’s been an extremely frustrating process. After everything, I’m feeling regretful of the purchase, and wish I could just return and go back to paying a gym membership for reliability.
